CRAFT Challenge 22, Anniversary.

Hope you are all well.

It's Thursday again, which means time for the next challenge at CRAFT Challenge. This week the brief is 'Anniversary'. I wonder what you'll come up with.

For this week our sponsor is Craft Obsessions, who are putting 6 promarkers up for the winner of this challenge.

Well, here is my DT card, I worked on this for nearly 2 days. The closest thing I have resembling an anniversary in the near future is the fact that our senior receptionist will have been with us (well not me personally, I've only been there since 2000) for 25 years. I promised the other girls at work I would arrange for a card to mark the occasion.



Not really a quickie, but at least plenty of space for everyone to leave a message. I have put a picture here with a few different views of the 'card' (it's actually 3 A4 cards stuck together), so you can see most of it.

Hope you like it, and more importantly, hope the receptionist, the other girls and my colleagues like it as well. Just hope it's not too cheeky. LOL.

For those of you who would like how to make this card, I will put a step-by-step account here as well. Be warned though, it is not a quickie to make.

This card has been made out of 3 A4 pieces of card, stuck together. There are a total of 7 3D images and a number of background papers as well. Some of the images I found on the internet (photobucket). Some are from Norma and others from The Lilac Garden. The texts added I put on myself using nestibility tags to add to the card.

So, step one: Cut out all the images and assemble them using silicone glue. Here are the 7 images I used.









Next get 3 A4 pieces of card, mark them in the middle (at 14.85 cm) and one cm each side of the middle of the card. This to allow enough room for the 3D images.





Next cover the card with double sided sticky tape and apply the backing paper to the card,to ensure that the linking cards are hidden well.









Then cover all the linking bits of paper with some sticky ribbon to tidy it up a bit. Next it's time to start adding the images.


The tricky bit is to actually put together the moving image of the 'flasher' brandishing a candle in his pants. This is working with a hinge and lever system at the back of the 'dressed' image. The image has been stuck onto some green card big enough to hide the 'flashing' image. The lever support is stuck inside the lever to make it sturdy enough for the job.

The set needed basically consists of a hinge, a lever and a base, the base and the hinge still need to be cut to size on this picture and the slit still needs to be made in the base to feed the hinge through.
Next you need to perforate the hinge and the lever and stick them together with a brad.

From the back it looks like this. The image needs to be stuck to it in such a way that it moves freely on the hinge and shows sufficiently when lifted, not too much when in hiding mode.

Remember the black dots on the lever? Perforate it at this point and also put a hole through the front card, so both can be attached with another brad.

The base is stuck to the back of the green card with 2 layers of double sided sticky foam to allow the 3D image to move sufficiently behind the green card.

It then looks like this from the front.



And like this once the image has been lifted.

To allow the image to move freely, 3 layers of the double sided foam tape are applied to the back in places where it does not interfere with the free movement of the image.

Once this has been done, the card with moving image hidden behind it, is stuck onto the base card.

Next print off the text you want and cut this out with nestibility tags.

Cut strips of ribbon, attach double sided sticky tape and feed through and attach to the tags, then to the card.



Now this is all done, it's time to have a good look at the card from different views.

CRAFT Challenge 21, a recipe

Hello everyone,

It's time for CRAFT Challenge 21. This week we have a recipe for you. The recipe is to use 1 ribbon, 2 buttons and 3 papers.

As our sponsor this week is Willow Designs Stamps we have used some of her lovely Christmas stamps for our cards this week. I have used her 'Keeping Warm' stamp. I thought this one was really cute. Hope you like it too.

I have been a rather naughty girl last Friday and went to get myself some new nestibilities from some left over birthday money from some years ago. (just managed to come across it again recently). Thought it would be nice to get some star ones for this challenge and upcoming Christmas cards already.

There was just one tiny problem after I had coloured the digistamp a few times to find the best one, the stamp images I used were too big to allow for what I had planned, therefore I had to print some smaller ones off as well to fit. Also got some tag nestibilities for on ribbon. Thought that would be nice as well. The background papers I used are are freebies from Funky Fairies.

I stuck a star gem to the buttons to make them fit in a little better with the theme.

Competition at the Crafty Pad

Hello everyone,

Have you noticed the competition that is going at the Crafty Pad? Debbie has put a free Ellie and Mo friends digitals stamp on her blog for free, which you can use to take part in this competition which runs till the 26th of October. Do have a look, it's another gorgeous stamp.


Here is my card made with the stamp. When I saw the stamp I just couldn't resist to cut the stamp in half to make it a moveable card. Hope you like it.



First I coloured the stamp with watercolour pencils. Then I cut off the top part of the see-saw.

The next step was to cut some green card with nestibilities and stick the bottom part of the see-saw on this.



Then put the top part on top of this with a brad so it could move.



Next I cut out and assembled a hinge and lever system on the back of the card which attached to the back with the same brad.



Next I attached the sentiment to the top part of the hinge part and backed it with some green card.



I then stuck double thickness doublesided foam tape to the back to attach it to the basecard, making sure that the lever could move freely.



Next the little edge of the see-saw was stuck onto the lever (only the far end) so it would move with the lever revealing the message.



I felt this would work best on that side that would lift the elephant up rather than the mouse.

It was then stuck onto some orange basecard and some little ribbon bows were added.

Crafty Pad challenge 40, a sketch

Hello everyone,

Just received some of the lovely Crafty Pad stamps earlier this week. They are gorgeous and I just couldn't wait to get around to playing with them. They have a lovely sketch for this week's challenge on and I thought I would use it for one of the many Christmas cards I need to make this year.



Here is the sketch, which was made by Maxine. I will probably be using this one again as I loved working with it.



Hope you like my card, I certainly love these new Christmas stamps. As my card was rather small I first had to stamp the image, then scan and print it. I then coloured it with watercolour pencils.

CRAFT Challenge 20, inspiration picture.

Good morning all,

Time for challenge 20 already at CRAFT Challenge. This week we have an inspiration picture for you. We hope you like it and it will get your creative juices flowing.

And here is a step-by-step description of how to make it.

First of all, find a nice image, for this one I picked one from CraftsUPrint, they had some freebies on to take part in a competition. It is a pair walking under an umbrella in the rain. Perfect for this time of year, I would think. It's a 3D image and I cut it out and assembled it with silicone glue.




Next I gathered some fallen autumn leaves and put them together under the scanner to form a background. I am showing you 4 different ones, as well as the printed version, feel free to use them for your personal use if you feel you can use them.

Next find a red basecard:



and put the back ground onto it with double sided sticky tape.



Add the image and you are nearly done.



Next I printed off two sentiments for the card, the first was 'Pitter, Patter, Raindrops...' and the second 'Happy Birthday!'.

I think the card would be quite suitable for an autumn birthday.

CRAFT Challenge 19, a sketch for you.

Hello everyone,

Most of us, if not all, at the DT have used one of her gorgeous digistamps for our projects this week.

But now to my card for this week, I hope you like it. I used the snowman for my card and I really like this image. Hope you like it too.



For this card I used the image mentioned. I also used a few papers from the free 'Merry Christmas Everyone' pack of papers from Funky Fairies.
