Birthday card for a Sheffield United fan.

Hello again everyone. Thanks again for letting me ramble on to get my thoughts gathered yesterday. As a result I have now managed to get a card finished for a friend of my eldest, who is very much of a Sheffield United fan.

So, what else can you do than make him a card around that theme?

Here is a sneaky preview of the card:



For the background paper I have used the Sheffield United logo and copied and pasted it on a A4 canvas several times. The logo is below.



And here is the background I edited myself for the front of the card.



For the inside of the card I also put in a text box. Feel free to use these backgrounds if they are any help to you, but please don't sell them.



I also found an image of a Sheffield United player in action and printed this off 6 times, then cut this out again to form a 3D decoupage image. You can find the image below and can use this for your own use, but please don't sell it.

Just a very quick hello!

Hi everyone,

Not been very crafty over the last week. I have been back at work and it has been rather busy.

Not sure what to do next. There are a few projects that I can see that need to be done over the next few weeks. It's just finding out in what order to do them. Next question would be what to actually do with them.

There are a few things coming up for May.
1. My middle son will be 10 in May.
2. A friend of my eldest has his birthday on the 1st of May and he will probably want a card doing.
3. A cousin of my husband is getting married in May, so I will need to make her a card as well.
4. The card for my sister in law has at least been done for May.
5. One of my colleagues is getting married this summer and I would like to make her a card as well.

It would also be nice to make some cards that would fit in with some challenges. I do not tend to have quite enough time for that though usually.

So, at the moment I'm a little stuck. Where to start? I've kind of started on my son's card, but the second one should be finished next week really. Not sure what card to make yet, my son hasn't gotten back to me on that. He loves football though.

Well, I'll try to have a good think. Maybe I will have a little time tomorrow to make him a card and some time later this week to do my son's card. The wedding congratulations can then follow on from that. Hopefully just in time for the challenge on trimcraft.

Dare to be Square birthday card for sister-in-law.

Hello all, I have just finished a card for my sister-in-law, who has her birthday in May. A good thing she doesn't know about my blog as yet!

Here is just a quick peek. I thought it would be quite a good one for the Dare to be Square challenge on Funky Fairies as well, but I may just be a bit too late for that.

It has used four of their papers from the pink range, though.

For the spinning image inside the card, I have used the CuddlyBuddly freebie, 4 layers of it cut in different stages for a 3D image. I flipped the image for the other side of the spinner.

Inside the card I used their background and another image in the background.

This is one of the first stages of the card.

For this I chose a pink card blank for the outside of the card and for the inside of the card, measuring 13.5cm square. I then cut out 4 squares of the Funky Fairies backing paper, 12.5, 11.5, 10.5 and 9.5 cm square and layered them onto the base card.

Next I cut out a rectangle half the size of the image at the front of the card. This is one I got from The Lilac Garden.

The second stage of the card was to decorate the inside of the outside part of the card. A bit of the backing paper used on the inside of the card was used for this, with the cuddlybuddly bear image added to this. You can see this below.

And here are some of the views of the finished card, it is quite difficult to show this type of card of in the best possible way. It is again one of the swinging window cards with the swinging image in the middle as well. The picture below shows the card from the side with the swinging window.

Challenge 17 at The Crafty Pad

Good evening all and a Happy Easter!

It looks like I'm on a roll! Second project today and another entry to a challenge. This time at The Crafty Pad.

For this challenge we had to work according to the following sketch.





Another rule of course is to use one of their fabulous stamps. For this one I have chosen a Just Teddy with ball stamp. They are just sooo cute, I'm sure you will agree.

The full image of the square card is below. I have used some of their free papers as well to help make this card and cut out some ovals using nestibilities. The stamp was carefully coloured in using water colour pencils. I have edited the spotty and antique free papers slightly to fit better with the yellow theme of the card.

I also printed of the text 'I know I'm in need of some exercise, but are you sure this is the way to do it?' on one of the papers for to add a funny element to the card. To me it looks like he is balancing on a pilates exercise ball and like so many of us, I do need a bit more exercise to get myself into the right kind of fitness. I always have big plans, but hardly ever manage to follow them up.

To spice it up a little 3 little brads are added to the longitudinal strip of backing paper and 2 flower brads to the corners of the card.

I hope you like the card, I certainly enjoyed creating it and I am quite pleased with the result. Now I just need to find the right kind of person to send it to and the right occasion. I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something.

FUNKY FAIRYS CHALLENGE 11 - DARE TO BE SQUARE! entry.

This is a very quick entry into the challenge at Funky Fairies at the moment. I didn't have a lot of time, but didn't want to let it go unnoticed. For this challenge, which you can find at http://funkyfairyschallengeblog.blogspot.com/2009/04/funky-fairys-challenge-11-dare-to-be.html, you need to create a project using at least one of their papers with the theme square.

For this project I have used several of their papers (6 to be exact) and made them into a template for a little cube. I then printed this off on A4 paper, which had a back ground paper from Arty Miss on the other side of the paper.

It was then cut out and stuck together with double sided sticky tape.

For papers used and template, see below.

Above you can see the template for the cube that has been used. Each square is made up of a different Funky Fairies paper. The top one is from their purple Christmas range, as is the one below on the right. (papers h and 40 respectively). The one to the right and below the top one is from the dmaddon2 range, paper 12. Next to that is paper 15 from the dmaddon1 range.

Below this is paper 16 from the birds range and below this paper 6 from the new feeling sweet range.

For the inside of the cube I have used an Arty Miss paper, bfly0103, a free download, just as the ones from Funky Fairies.

And a last view of the cube. I hope you like it. It was quite fun to make it and to resize the papers to fit the squares. To make it function best you do need a sturdy white cardboard to use.

Now it can be used as a little trinket box or if I would add some numbers, it would make a nicely decorated dice.

Male Birthday Card.

Another card added to my blog today. I made this card earlier this week for my uncle, who has his birthday on the 14th. It is always quite tricky to find something suitable, but I think he will probably like this. He used to go camping in France a lot in his younger years.

The image used for this card is the one below for a simple, yet effective decoupage. I chose the wine bottle and glass with cheese image.

As I did not have a fitting background yet, I created a matching background by editing the main decoupage image and cutting and pasting it several times on an A4 sheet. I have added this background paper below and you can feel free to use it if you like for your personal use.

And here are some views of the finished card. I used some brown base card and cut this and the background paper to size to fit. Although I usually use a card measuring 15 x 7.5 cm base, 15x15 cm square on top, I this time made it a little smaller to use a bit of left over card I had. You can basically make it any size you like as long as the base width is half the length and the square is the same size as the length.

Above is the frontal view and below is one a little from the side, so you can get a feel of the 3D effect of the decoupage image.
