CRAFT Challenge 17,Colour combo pink and brown.

Good morning all,

It's time for Challenge 17 at CRAFT Challenge this week. You can see my DT entry next to this. One of my first Christmas cards this year. You can see how I made it below.

To make the card you will need a square pink card (13.5x13.5 cm).

Next print of some lovely free backing paper from the 'Merry Christmas Everyone' range from Funky Fairies, cut them to size (10x10cm pink and 10x3.5cm brown) and attach the brown on top of the pink.





Stick this piece of backing paper to the square card:

Stamp the lovely Teddy on ball stamp from The Crafty Pad on some pink holographic paper and carefully cut it out.

Then also stamp it onto some brown handmade paper and cut it out.

Following that also cut off the ball of the picture.

Stick the brown bear on top of the holographic picture and you get the image above.

Then stick it onto some of the pink backingpaper cut out to a circle with nestibilities.

Add a brown rectangle and add the circle to get the next picture.

Add some sparkly stars and the card is nearly finished. Now all that is needed is the sentiment (this time I made it: Teddy found it hard work to decorate the Christmas Tree) printed onto pink rectangle of card, layer onto a rectangle of holographic silver paper with stars and add to the card.

Done!

Craft Challenge 16, child for a child with removable item.

Doesn't time pass quickly? I just can't believe that we are already down to challenge 16 at CRAFT Challenge. This time we want you to make a card for a child with a removable item.

This week is sponsored by . This weeks prize is to choose any 5 digi stamps from Claire's shop, which you can find at Hope Jacare at Shop Handmade. Claire is part of our design team and a very talented lady indeed who does some really lovely 'doodles'.


It is also nearly time for my youngest 7th birthday already! It seems like it was only yesterday I had him. Time really does fly.

Several months ago I made a card for one of his friends and he had requested a Ben10 card for him at the time. Some time later he said (when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, meaning a present) that he wanted a Ben10 card as well, but a different one.


I felt this request fitted in with this challenge (timing as well as it's his birthday in about a week) very well.

So, here is the card. I will do a different post with the 3D images and backgrounds I used for this card. This way you are able to use some of these for your personal use as well if you like them.

There are some more images of the card below.

The item sticking out and lying in front of the card is a bookmark. You can just see the bottom of the bookmark where I have personalised it by adding my son's name.

If you would like to know how to put a springy card together, have a look here where I have put some instructions for one previously. This card is basically using a penny slider system on all 3D alien images. The 3D Ben10 is stuck onto double thickness foam pads to allow the other images to move underneath.

Hope you like it. It was not an easy one to put together, but great fun now it is ready.

Instructions for my CRAFT Challenge 16 card.

As promised, here are also the instructions for making this card. About time as well, I guess as it has been a long time since I put any instructions on here.



First of all, start with making the basic springy card. You can find the instructions on how to do this here.

Then print of the backing papers (see post below) and the step-by-step 3D images that are also in the post below.

Stick the first backing paper onto the square area of the springy card.

It will then look as below.

Make a slit in the top of the card to allow a penny slider system for one of the Ben10 aliens to move in. I have used the flying one.

Next assemble the 3D images with silicone glue or sticky pads, they will then look similar to what is shown below.

Use a penny slider system to attach the flying Ben10 alien to the base card. It should then be similar to that. You could attach some ribbon as I have done to have a handle to move them with.

Next get the other square and make some slits in that to make penny sliders for the other Ben10 aliens. Make sure you do allow enough space for Ben1o to be mounted onto that as well.

Next attach all the aliens to the penny sliders, together with the ribbons. Attach a Happy Birthday sentiment to a rectangular piece of card that is attached to the under surface of one of the penny slider systems, so it will be revealed when the alien is moved. I have used the left hand corner one for this.

Attach Ben10 to the card as well with sticky foampads (I have used 2 to each spot to give more space for the aliens to move underneath) in such a way that the aliens can still move. This bit is quite tricky.

Turn this piece of card over and put sticky foam pads to the back in such a way that the penny sliders can move freely, there is sufficient space for the bookmark to rest (use this one as a guide by putting it in place when applying the foampads) and the flying alien will still be able to move freely as well when the card is put together.

Done!! That was quite some job!

But I hope you agree it was worth the result.

The promised 3D images used for CRAFT Challenge 16 card.

Hello everyone,

As promised I will now also upload the 3D images and backgrounds I edited and or created for my Ben10 card for challenge 16 at CRAFT Challenge this week. I searched for several free Ben10 images, printed them several times and cut them out for 3D effect.

The images below are 10x10cm backgrounds to fit on the springy card.





















Here is Ben10 himself as a 3D image:




And here are some of the Ben10 aliens as 3D images.

The first 2 sheets (Ben1o and the one on the right) are on A4 sheets, the 2 last ones are on A5 sheets.












Feel free to use these or any other of my 3D images for personal use, but please do not sell them as your own. The images are all free downloads from official Ben10 websites, edited by myself to fit the springy card and also to form 3D images.

The last one here is an A4 sheet with both 10x10 papers and the bookmark I made to go with the card. Just cut them out and use a white strip underneath to personalise with the name of the birthday boy or girl for an extra present.

Some awards to share, first one of several

Hello everyone,

I recently was told by someone that I always update my blog so well. Well, ummm............, not so sure to be honest.

Over the last few months I have had several blog awards, that I just did not have time to put on here and share. Not sure how everyone else with jobs, families and a great hobby of creating really manages it!

So, to make a start, here is the first one to share. This one was given to me by the lovely Debs. She left me this award as well as a second one at the same time in May and a third one this week! How fab is that?

Challenge 15 at CRAFT Challenge, anything but a card.

Hello everyone,

Doesn't time just fly? It's time for challenge 15 already this week at CRAFT Challenge and we have something different for you in store this time. This week we want you to make anything but a card.

Can't wait to see what you all come up with.

For this week I have kept a project that I made early summer. Just kept it behind to use now. I made some candles for the craft fair at school (none sold I'm afraid, so they'll be fine for birthday presents I guess). Hope you like them.

This is a candle I made using a stamp from the Crafty Pad 'Belinda's Garden', I really love this one and hope you agree. This is the one I'm using as my DT entry for CRAFT Challenge.

I also made another few candles, this one has a stamp of 3 hens from Penny Black and is also quite nice and I also made some others with a bird stamp and some frog ones as well as a fairy one. Hope you like them.

You can even print off a favourite photo onto tissue paper and use this for a very special personalised candle. I have tried it before. I have just added those pictures here. It was a candle I made as a Christmas present for my in-laws last Christmas with our kids on it. This was however the first one I made and not very successful yet. (I think the ink was nearly out on the printer)
